Amador County Bail Bonds

When a person is arrested in Amador, the individual will be taken to jail and booked for the crime(s) that he or she had been accused of committing. When a person is in jail, many times, the courts will let them be released from jail while they await trial. One of the ways that a defendant is released from jail is by paying a bail bond.

A bail bond is an amount of money that the defendant will supply the court in exchange for the release from jail. The courts will hold onto this amount of money until the defendant fulfills his or her legal obligation. As soon as the legal obligation has been fulfilled, the courts will return the money to the payee. The bail amount is determined by the crime(s) that the defendant has been accused of committing. The bail rate varies for each crime, but is the same for the same crime for every county in California.

If a defendant needs help supplying the money for the bail bond, the defendant may call upon a bail bonding agency. A bail bonding agency is in business to provide defendants with the funds that are necessary for his or her release from jail while awaiting trial. The bonding agency will charge the defendant a down payment of about ten percent of the total cost of the bail in exchange for its services.

When the bail bonding agency provides a defendant with funds, the bonding agency is also assuming a risk. If the defendant does not fulfill his or her legal obligation, then the bail bonding agency will lose the bail bond that he supplied the courts with for the release of the defendant. For this reason, bail bonding agencies also hold onto assets that belong to a defendant or a loved one of the defendant. As soon as the defendant has fulfilled a legal obligation, the bail bonding agency will release these assets. However, if the defendant fails to fulfill the legal obligation, then the bonding agency may seize these assets.

If a defendant fails to appear in court or fulfill a legal obligation to the courts, not only will the defendant likely lost assets, but it is also highly probably that the bail bonding agency will hire a bounty hunter to track the defendant down. The bounty hunter will return the defendant to jail while he or she awaits trial. Once a person has failed to appear once, it is unlikely that the courts will allow him to get out of jail on bond again.
