Ventura County Bail Bonds

When a person is arrested in the county of Ventura, the person will be taken to jail in order to be booked and charged with a particular crime. In many cases, the defendant will have the opportunity to be released from jail while he or she awaits a trial for the offense that he or she has been accused of committing.

When the courts allow a defendant to be released from jail while awaiting trial, the courts may require that defendant provide a down payment for the release. The down payment, known as bail, is a monetary assurance to the courts that the defendant will return to court in order to fulfill his or her legal obligations. As soon as the defendant does fulfill the full legal obligation, the defendant will receive a refund of the bail amount.

Many defendants choose to enlist the help of a bail bonding agency in order to provide the courts with bail. There are many bail bonding agencies in the county of Ventura and the majority of these agencies charge a ten percent fee for their services. This fee is a down payment that assures the bail bonding agency that the defendant will follow through with the commitment to the courts.

As long as the defendant fulfills the full legal obligation to the courts, the bail bonding agency will receive a refund of the bail amount. However, if the defendant fails to fulfill the legal obligation to the courts, then the bail bonding agency may charge the defendant additional fees to help cover the cost of the lost bail amount. These fees may be paid for by collateral that the bail bonding agency had held for the defendant.

The bail bonding agency may also use the services of a bounty hunter to track down the defendant in order to return him or her to court in order to stand trial for the crime(s) that he or she has been accused of committing. The U.S. is the only country that still allows legal bounty hunting for defendants that fail to appear in court.

Once the defendant is returned to court, the bail bonding agency may receive a full or partial refund of the bail amount. The defendant will also be charged for the bounty hunting fees as well as additional fees that were incurred when the defendant failed to appear.
