Yolo County Bail Bonds
When an individual is arrested and taken to jail for booking in the county of Yolo, the individual may be able to get out of jail on bond while the defendant awaits his or her trial. When a defendant is given the opportunity to get out of jail on a bail bond, the bond will be determined by the type of offense.
In order to determine the amount of the bail bond, the courts will look at the type of offense(s) that the defendant is accused of committing. Each type of offense has a particular amount of bail that is associated with it. This assumptive bail rate schedule is the same for all counties across the state of California, including Yolo. The bail bond will be the total of all of the reasons for the arrest. For example, if a person is arrested for possession of marijuana as well as a DUI, then the bail will be determined by combining the assumptive bail rates for both offenses.
There are extenuating circumstances in which a defendant may not be eligible for bail. For example, if a defendant commits murder, a judge may be called in to review the case. In such circumstances, the judge may decide to deny bail. Alternatively, there are circumstances in which a pre-trial representative may review a case and decide that the defendant may be released from jail on his or her own recognizance.
When a defendant is given the opportunity to be released from jail on bond, many defendants choose to use the services of a bail bonding agency. A bail bonding agency will provide the defendant with the full amount of the bail bond that is required by the courts. In exchange, the defendant will pay the bail bonding agency a fee that usually about ten percent of the total bail amount.
After a bail bonding agency provides the funds for the defendant’s release from jail, the agency will then have custody of the defendant. In the event that the defendant fails to show up to court, the agency may track the defendant down using bounty hunters or other means. The U.S. is the only country that allows bounty hunting for defendants that fail to fulfill their legal obligations.
When the defendant fulfills th legal obligation, the bail bonding agency will receive a refund of the bail bond, regardless of whether the defendant was found to be guilty or innocent.
